About Us
In 2017, a group of youth with a burning passion for environmental preservation came together and begun organizing community clean-ups and tree planting activities along the Nairobi River, with the sole intent of transforming the surrounding communities into healthier and economically thriving areas. After receiving valuable advice and mentorship from Mr. Joe Kithyaka and Mr. Douglas Mbuvi, these young ‘Green Ambassadors’ resolved to form the youth-led MeForest Initiative to better carry out their commitment to environmental conservation through various means, including tree planting, community clean-ups, and advocating for Climate Action.
MeForest Initiative envisions creating more resilient, sustainable lands with rehabilitated forests, ensuring more socio-economically thriving communities. Simultaneously, they aim to raise environmental awareness by training the youth to become Green Ambassadors on environmental issues, empowering them to be agents of change in their communities. These Green Ambassadors will form a movement of passionate and daring pioneers, serving as role models not only among their peers but also across the country.
Memorable Achievement
Learn how we helped Ministry of Environment Develop an Environmental Mobile App To Combat Climate Change
MeForest Initiative played a pivotal role in developing a groundbreaking mobile app for the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, along with the Kenya Forestry Research Institute, Meforest Initiative and other environmental stakeholders. The app initially known GreenPap, but now popularly known as JazaMiti was designed to promote and streamline tree planting activities across Kenya, features a unique tree-species-to-site-matching tool, allowing users to find the best species for their location. Additionally, it provides a comprehensive platform for tracking Kenya’s forest cover, aiding in the country’s environmental conservation efforts. Thanks to Dennis’s leadership and technical expertise, the app was approved by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry and has become a key tool for the Kenya National Committee of Forest Cover, promoting sustainable forestry practices and supporting national reforestation goals.

THE BLIND GO GREEN
The Blind Go Green is an initiative by Kenya Society for the Blind and MeForest to combat climate change through a nationwide tree planting campaign. Trees play a crucial role in improving air quality, reducing soil erosion, and supporting mental health and wildlife. The initiative promotes environmental conservation and involves visually impaired individuals in tree planting and climate change education. Key activities include tree growing events, recruiting Blind Green Ambassadors, and establishing a KSB Tree Nursery and park. The initiative aligns with Kenya’s national efforts to address climate change and promote sustainable development.
